The Vermont Golf Association Scholarship Fund was established in 1964 by George Smith, Floyd James, Ralph Eaton, Urban Wakefield, and William Chesley with a clear purpose: to support deserving students who share a meaningful connection to the game of golf and a commitment to higher education.
From an initial four-year grant of $400, the program has grown into a statewide effort that now supports up to 10 students each year, providing sustained financial assistance and long-term encouragement.
To invest in Vermont students by supporting academic success and long-term growth through scholarship programs.

By investing in students who carry these values into their education, the program reinforces the connection between athletic involvement and long-term educational opportunity.
Each year, the Scholarship Fund awards financial assistance to students who meet program eligibility and demonstrate a strong connection to golf, academic performance, and personal character.
